Why is it that the most religious are also far too commonly the ones who are most offended by grace? This is as true today as it was in Jesus’ day. Paul’s concern about grace opening up the floodgates of sinfulness is warranted. (Romans 6:1) Yet, we must fight the sinful posture of self-righteousness. We come to Jesus in grace and we stay with Jesus in grace. Self-righteousness just might be more demonic than it appears.
Lord, I am very aware of my sinfulness. Do not let me forget this. Let me never assume my good standing with You has anything to do with anything but Your love and compassion for me expressed through grace. Let the evidence of of my receiving of Your undeserved grace be seen in me by my forgiveness of others and compassion for them, and the grace I continually offer to those around me. AMEN
