Isaiah 56:
- The LORD is still in the business of gathering! This is not just for His close-knit family. After He has gathered the foreigner and those without family (vs. 3-7) He says that He “will gather yet others to him.” (vs. 8) The common denominator seems to be not in one’s culture or race or even what they have to offer, but in those who love God and pursue Him and delight to keep His commands, to keep His Sabbath.
- LORD, my life may be foreign to those who claim Your Name, the sum of my obedience may turn up empty, but in You, my inheritance will be “better than sons and daughters” (vs. 5). Help me to live in this confidence and view others through this same lens. Lest I disqualify those in my heart whom You have more than qualified!
