Desiring Righteousness, not Determined by Righteousness

Jeremiah 36:

  • Many times Jeremiah says “it may be that…” or “perhaps…”. In other words, Jeremiah is not given any guarantees from God of the effects of his obedience. Though we can, and must, always hope for righteous fruit, we must not be motivated by this. Loving God, fearing God, hating sin, hating injustice; things such as these should drive our obedience…come what may.
    • LORD, help me to love You, love Your word and love Your Bride. Help me to know what this practically looks like in daily decisions. Give me the strength to respond according to your character. Give me wisdom to be in sync with Your will.
