Psalm 40:

• It’s interesting to me how David sees his dangerous situation and leans into the security and safety of the LORD. He knows his own sinfulness while trusting God’s promise of salvation.
• Today it is more common for people to deal with the reality of their own sinfulness by saying that there is nothing wrong with them or their actions. There has to be a way to own the truth of our errors and crimes; while at the same time rest in the merciful love of God.

LORD, help me to trust Your grace without lying about my offenses.

Verse 17 shows how David could realize that he deserves judgment, yet also knows that God is merciful.
